Scar on the Soul

Well last night was probably the worse I have played in many a year. A piece came out called 'Marie' Now this is high at start and I had no problems with that, but half way through there is scope for a jazz solo. I asked my mate to kick me at the end of my solo as I was going to attempt to jazz it without the chords. I started using my plunger and realised immediately that I was in the sh*t. I could not get onto the listened for chord by any means. After about a half an hour (it felt like it) i realised my mate had not booted me and we had got to the end of the piece. I had overshot by about 30 bars nicking the Tenor Sax solo, of which he gleefully informed the whole audience by shouting across the front of the Band (very pro) After that the Vocalist announced I had played like a professional........professional plumber. Hysterics from the crowd. i laughed but obviously felt embarrassed. Now you ask, will this affect me.......nope cos what can't kill you can only make you stronger. mind you I exonerated myself in the next solo phew. A rough ride yes, but I know what the problem is an until it goes I will have to do the best I can. Of which I try to do anyway.
